It hasn't been the best of starts for Hofstra and its new regime. Three games and three losses at the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
The latest setback was a 62-47 loss to Nebraska on Sunday. Jenkins led the way with 15 points on 5-for-10 shooting. Mike Moore added 12 points, but that was it for Hofstra's offense. No one else reached double figures. The Pride (1-3) have struggled mightily to get offense from other sources.
But it's still early. And the Pride is still smarting from the defections of Chaz Williams and Halil Kanacevic. It may take a while, but the hope is that someone develops a scoring touch over the next few weeks. Hofstra is going to need some more balance to get through the tough CAA.
Hofstra has five winnable games over the next 15 days - Wagner, at Rider, Towson, at Binghamton, Florida Atlantic - and could gain some momentum.
