Sabre Proctor sets pace for Stony Brook women

Sabre Proctor had 19 points and seven rebounds as Stony Brook topped Monmouth, 69-52, in the Seawolves Holiday Classic Saturday at Pritchard Gymnasium.

It was the third straight win for the Seawolves, who improved to 7-3, marking the program's best start since going to Division I in 1999. Stony Brook started 6-4 previously.

Jessica Ogunnorin had 13 points and 11 rebounds and Chikilra Goodman chipped in 14 points and four steals for SBU.

Ahead 30-23 with 2:37 left in the first half, Ogunnorin scored on a putback in the final minute, capping a 9-2 run that gave the Seawolves a 39-25 lead at the break.

Monmouth is 1-9.

Harvard 60, Hofstra 41: Annie Payton had 14 points and Elo Edeferioka had seven rebounds for Hofstra (4-5) in non-conference.

Temi Fagbenle had 15 points for Harvard (8-3).

NYIT 79, Ashland 69: Demitra Apergis had 21 points and eight assists and Dina Ragab had 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead NYIT (5-4) in non-conference. Ashland dropped to 5-3.

Manhattanville 81, Old Westbury 60: DeAndra Scott had 23 points, eight rebounds and a career-high six steals for Old Westbury (2-7) in non-conference. Manhattanville is 2-9.


MEN'S BASKETBALLAdelphi 58, Philadelphia 57: Ryan Denicola (14 points) hit a jumper off a feed from Edward Sullivan with 3:58 left to provide the final margin for Adelphi (3-6) at the Adelphi Holiday Classic.

Duane Morgan and Boris Fodouop each scored 13 in the win. Philadelphia is 7-4.

Suffolk CC 74, LaGuardia CC 71: Chris Millender had 27 points and 17 rebounds and Armand Correa and Stephon Knight had 12 points each to lead Suffolk CC (7-1) in Region XV.
