Things were certainly not looking up for Tom Pecora and Fordham after back to back losses to Hampton and LIU. Of course Percora is starting from scratch with the Rams.
But he took a big step in getting the program up to standard after Saturday's suprising 84-81 win over St. John's.
Percora's rag-tag bunch put an offensive show, shooting 49 percent from the field. Four players finished in double figures, including Brenton Butler (22 points) and Alberto Estwick with 20 points.

Of course there are several other underlying stories that go with this win. Pecora did well against St. John's when he was at Hofstra. And there were always rumors that Pecora wanted the the job. Mind you these were just rumors and speculation. Pecora obviously didn't get the gig, but hey, he did the next best thing on Saturday.
This win isn't going to vault Fordham (5-4), winners of three straight, to the top of the Atlantic 10, but it could mean something in the New York City recruiting wars. Fordham received a recruiting boost earlier in the week with a win over rival Manhattan.
With a wide recruiting base, a reputable conference that is usually receives multiple NCAA Tournament bids, who knows? Pecora could be on his way to something big.
