Sparked by a balanced scoring attack, St. John's topped Ball State, 78-73, in overtime at the Great Alaskan Shootout for its second win of the season.
Ok, it wasn't the prettiest win as the Red Storm went just 16-for-30 from the free throw line and had to overcome a six-point deficit late in the second half, but you have to give the Red Storm credit for playing and winning a game at an insane hour. The game tipped around 1:45 am edt. It was played in Alaska, so it tipped around 11:45 pm west coast time. That is still late.
Justin Brownlee had 20 points on 8-for-11 shooting and freshman sensation D.J. Kennedy added 15 points. The Red Storm (2-1) plays Drake later tonight.
