Tennessee beats Ohio, 83-68, moves on to Sweet 16

Tennessee never looked back after building a 65-50 lead as Ohio never got closer than 10 points. J.P. Prince had 18 points and Scotty Hopson added 17 for the No.6 Volunteers.

Tommy Freeman led Ohio with 23 points. Armon Bassett was limited to seven points, while D.J. Cooper and DeVaughn Washington finished with 16 points.

After a little lull, the Volunteers caught a second wind and ripped off a 15-5 run. The Volunteers lead 65-50 with 6:58 left. The Volunteers are shooting 54 percent from the field and have outscored the Bobcats 44-10 in the paint.

Ohio has come roaring back after falling behind, 40-28. Tommy Freeman capped a 22-10 run with a three. Tennessee leads 50-45 with 13:03 left.

Tennessee is now in control. After ending the half on a 7-3 run for a 38-27 lead, the Volunteers continued to maintain, matching Ohio basket for basket. The Vols lead 44-33 with 15:48 left.

Ohio is still trying to hang around. After falling behind 34-20, the Bobcats came back with a 7-3 run and trail 38-27 at the half.

Wayne Chism has nine points and J.P. Prince has seven for Tennessee. Tommy Freeman leads Ohio with 14 points. Armon Bassett, the star against Georgetown, has just two points.

Tennessee is still on the move, leading 34-20 with 4:18 left. The Volunteers, who trailed 18-16, are on a 16-2 run. The run was highlighted by a desparation three by Cameron Tatum as the shot clock expired that gave the Volunterrs a 29-20 lead.

Wayne Chism hit a three and Scotty Hopson added a layup off a feed from Bobby Maze, capping a 10-0 run by Tennessee, which leads 26-18 with 7:48 left in the half.  

The thrill of beating Georgetown hasn't blurred the focus of Ohio, which trails the Volunteers 15-13 with 12:47 left. Tommy Freeman has eight points for Ohio. The Tennessee offense, which lacks firepower, needs more out of Scotty Hopson (3 points) and Wayne Chism (3 points).
