University of Virginia leading scoring Sylven Landesberg will not return for his junior season.
The 6-4 sophomore from Queens, a former ACC rookie of the year, was suspended earlier this season for failing to meet academic requirements.
"I have discussed Sylven's future with the Landesberg family and been informed that he will be leaving the University of Virginia to pursue his professional aspirations," coach Tony Bennett told the Associated Press. "I am thankful for the significant contributions Sylven made to the Virginia basketball program and wish him success in his future endeavors."
Landesberg averaged 17.3 points for the Cavaliers.
Landesberg is one of four players who have departed the program. Bennett announced on Monday that freshman forward Tristan Spurlock won't return to the team. Calvin Baker left the team earlier this season because of a family illness and Jamil Tucker was dismissed because of academics.
