Ishmael Smith drained a jumper with 1.6 seconds left to push Wake Forest past Texas, 81-80, in overtime.
Wake Forest led by as many as 12 in the second half, but Texas just wouldn't die, forcing overtime with a 26-14 run to end the second quarter. The extra session was all Texas early on as J'Covan Brown and Jordan Hamilton drained consecutive three-pointers for the Longhorns. Dames added two free throws to give the Longhorns a 76-68 lead with 3:04 left in OT.
But Wake stayed with it as Texas missed a couple of free throws and Ari Smith scored five points in the final 49 seconds to help the Demon Deacons pull off the win.
