Upon further examination, Hofstra women’s coach Krista Kilburn-Steveskey must be a travel buff. And her players must like long cross-country trips, too. Just check out the Pride’s early-season schedule. Few teams can boast that kind of mileage.
The Pride opens its season on the road in Spokane and Cheney WA on November 11 and 13 against Gonzaga and Eastern Washington, respectively. Hofstra returns home on November 18 for its home opener against St. John’s. Then it’s back on the road for two games in Mexico against Kansas State and Drake on Nov. 24 and 25 in the Cancun Challenge.
Still not convinced of the Pride’s love of flying?
The women then return home on Dec. 1 for a battle with Seton Hall. That is followed by trips to Atlanta, West Hartford and Jersey City on Dec. 4, 7 and 18 for games against Georgia State, Hartford and St. Peter’s.
Total mileage: 14,288.
This doesn’t include CAA media day i Arlington VA on Tuesday or any games played after Dec. 18.
Let’s hope the Hofstra women understand the true meaning of jetlag before they get o the plane.
