Women's NCAA Update, Griner gets 40

Think the Knicks could use Brittney Griner in the paint? The 6-8 sophomore from Baylor had 40 points on 15-for-21 shooting, 10 rebounds and six blocks in an 86-76 win over Wisconsin-Green Bay in a regional semifinal on Sunday.

She went 10-for-10 from the free throw line. The top-seeded Bears will face No.2 Texas A&M in a regional final on Tuesday in Dallas 9 p.m. The Aggies advanced by vitrue of a 79-38 thrashing of Georgia in the Sweet 16. 

The UConn women continued to roll. But it wasn't easy as the Huskies needed a late rally to get by Georgetown, 68-63, on Sunday. Maya Moore had 23 points and North Babylon graduate Bria Hartley added 17. UConn will face second-seeded Duke on Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Philadelphia.

The Blue Devils held off a late rally by No.3 DePaul and advanced with a 70-63 win.

In other Sweet 16 games, No.1 Tennessee topped No.4 Ohio State, 85-75, on Saturday and will face second-seeded Notre Dame on Monday at 7 p.m. in Dayton. Notre Dame made short work of Oklahoma, 78-53, on Saturday. 

Top-seeded Stanford knocked off No.5 North Carolina, 72-65, on Saturday and will take on a surprising Gonzaga team, a 76-69 winner over Louisville on Monday at 9 p.m. in Spokane.
