Fearless Prediction: Orange Bowl

Tuesday
Orange Bowl
No. 10 Iowa vs. No. 9 Georgia Tech (-5):
Georgia Tech's triple option attack has been a nightmare to stop this season. Whether it's Jonathan Dwyer, Josh Nesbitt, Anthony Allen or Roddy Jones, the Yellow Jackets have devastated opponents by piling up 307 rushing yards a game, good enough for second nationally behind Nevada. And just to keep the defenses guessing, Nesbitt has a big-play receiver in Demaryius Thomas, who has 46 catches for 1,154 yards and eight touchdowns. Thomas averages a whopping 25.1 yards per catch. Defensively, Derrick Morgan has 11.5 sacks and can cause problems. But Iowa has an answer for everything. The Hawkeyes' defense is a solid group. Iowa is 10th nationally in total defense, allowing just 287 yards per game. With Broderick Binns and Adrian Clayborn anchoring the line, linebackers Pat Angerer and A.J. Edds patrolling the back, and Tyler Sash, who has six interceptions, in the secondary, Iowa has the ability to slow down the Georgia Tech offense. Iowa's offensive line is solid, and tackle Bryan Bulaga can certainly shut down Morgan. The Hawkeyes will get a big boost from quarterback Ricky Stanzi and top running back Adam Robinson returning from injuries. Stanzi will make mistakes (he has thrown 14 interceptions), but he always seems to come up with a big pass a few times a game. Expect a close game. But look for Iowa's defense to come up big late. Iowa 24, Georgia Tech 20
