Fordham has spoken to Hofstra coach Tom Pecora about the Rams’ basketball coaching job, a person close to Fordham’s search committee said yesterday. Pecora could be offered the job within the next few days.

“The people here are very impressed with Tom Pecora,’’ the source said. “Fordham is extremely interested in Tom Pecora.’’

Fordham’s board of trustees also mentioned Robert Morris coach Mike Rice and Cornell’s Steve Donahue as candidates, but Pecora is said to top the list. “There is a sentiment that it would be a good fit for us,’’ the source said.

A spokesman for Hofstra said athletic director Jack Hayes would not discuss personnel matters. Pecora was not available for comment.
