All-time leading Hofstra men's basketball scorer Charles Jenkins has signed to play with Olimpia EA7 Milano in the Italy-Serie A League, the school announced Thursday. Jenkins averaged 11.1 points with Red Star Belgrade last season in his second year in the Serbia-KLS League. His new team will face Maccabi Tel Aviv on Oct. 4 at Madison Square Garden.

In other Hofstra basketball news, coach Joe Mihalich announced the addition of assistant coach Akbar Waheed, who spent 11 seasons on Mihalich's staff at Niagara before moving on to Boston College for four seasons and then spending the past season scouting for Oklahoma City of the NBA. Mihalich said Waheed's recruiting contacts in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia will be valuable along with his coaching ability on the floor.
