Keith Rendleman had 19 points and eight rebounds as UNC Wilmington beat Hofstra, 86-80, in Colonial Athletic Association men's basketball Saturday night in Wilmington, N.C.
Nathaniel Lester had 23 points and 12 rebounds for Hofstra (6-10, 0-4), which lost its third straight game. Mike Moore scored 22 points, Dwan McMillan added 11 and Stephen Nwaukoni had eight points and nine rebounds.
The Seahawks took a 44-37 halftime lead despite Moore's 15 points. "I thought we played well in spurts, but they always seemed to make the extra pass,'' Hofstra coach Mo Cassara said. "Our sense of urgency in the first half was not what it needs to be.'' He added, "They do a good job of challenging baskets. We didn't make that extra pass and it hurt us.''
With Hofstra trailing 48-43, the Seahawks (7-7, 3-1) put together an 11-0 run. After Adam Smith (18 points) hit an NBA-length three-pointer for a 67-53 lead, the Pride never got closer than six again.
