Ameen Tanksley and Juan'ya Green each scored 15 points Saturday as visiting Hofstra beat UNC Wilmington, 68-56, at Trask Coliseum in both teams' Colonial Athletic Association men's basketball opener.

Hofstra trailed by 11 at halftime, but scored 43 points in the second half to win its third straight, all by double digits.

The Pride improved to 10-4, matching last season's final victory total.

Green hit a three-pointer to tie it at 53 and Moussa Kone's dunk -- which came during a 10-0 run -- gave Hofstra the lead for good with 5:10 remaining.

The Pride hit 13 free throws in the final 4:55 to pull away.

Green scored 12 of his points, including nine free throws, in the second half and finished with six rebounds. Tanksley had three assists and three steals.

Dion Nesmith contributed 11 points and seven rebounds, Brian Bernardi scored nine points, Kone had eight points and six rebounds, and Rokas Gustys added 10 rebounds for Hofstra.

Craig Ponder scored 13 points and C.J. Gettys had 11 points and nine rebounds for UNC Wilmington (5-7). Addison Spruill added 11 points.

After UNC Wilmington went ahead 20-8, Freddie Jackson's free throw gave the Seahawks a 36-23 lead 37 seconds before halftime, and they took a 36-25 lead into the break. The Pride struggled offensively in the first half, shooting 7-for-33 from the field.

But Hofstra shot 42.3 percent after intermission and attempted 25 free throws.

The Pride will host Delaware at 7 p.m. Monday.
