Johnson helps No. 2 Syracuse hold off UConn

Wes Johnson and Kris Joseph combined to make six straight free throws in the final 33 seconds, and No. 2 Syracuse held off Connecticut, 72-67, last night.

Syracuse (24-1, 12-1 Big East) won its 11th straight and snapped a six-game skid against the Huskies in the regular season.

UConn (14-10, 4-7) dropped to 0-6 on the road this season and 1-5 against ranked teams.

Rick Jackson led Syracuse with 15 points.

Duke 64, North Carolina 54: Jon Scheyer scored 24 points and Kyle Singler 19 points for eighth-ranked visiting Duke (20-4, 8-2 ACC). North Carolina (13-11, 2-7) has lost eight of 10 since the start of 2010.

Ohio State 69, Indiana 52: William Buford scored 21 points and Kyle Madsen had a career-high 11 for visiting No. 13 Ohio State (19-6, 9-3 Big Ten). Freshman Christian Watford had 15 points for the Hoosiers (9-14, 4-7).

Women

UConn 95, DePaul 62: Tiffany Hayes and Tina Charles each scored 19 points and UConn's defense forced 25 turnovers as the top-ranked Huskies (24-0, 11-0 Big East) won their 63rd straight. - APAlbany 59, Stony Brook 52: Kirsten Jeter had 19 points and 15 rebounds for Stony Brook (7-17, 5-7 America East) in an overtime loss at Albany. Joia Daniels had 13 points for Stony Brook. Ebone Henry's layup with 21 seconds left forced overtime for Albany (8-15, 1-9).
