Adelphi names Pat McCabe new women's lacrosse coach

Pat McCabe has been named women's lacrosse coach at Adelphi, the university announced Thursday. Adelphi is the defending NCAA Division II champion.

"I am humbled by this opportunity and look forward to leading this special group of young women," McCabe said in a statement. "Adelphi University women's lacrosse has set a high standard, both on and off the field and I will work tirelessly to uphold that tradition."

McCabe, director of the Shooting Star Lacrosse Camps where he coaches girls lacrosse, was a four-time All-American at Syracuse and helped the Orange win three NCAA titles. He later played professionally with the Saints and Lizards.

McCabe, a graduate of Elmont High School, was the defensive coordinator for the men's team at LIU-Post for 1999-2001 and assisted at Adelphi in 2011.
