Les Miles tells LSU he's returning in 2011

Les Miles told LSU on Tuesday that he intends to return as the head coach for the 2011 season.

Miles reportedly met with Michigan officials on Monday to discuss the Wolverines' head coaching vacancy. Miles played for Bo Schembechler at Michigan in the mid 1970s and later returning to work as an assistant coach for Schembechler.

Here is the statement from LSU athletic director Joe Alleva:

"I am pleased to announce that Les Miles will remain the head coach at LSU. Les has led this program to many great successes on the field and his players represent LSU well off the field. We look forward to many great years of LSU football under his leadership."

Miles is 62-17 with a national championship in six seasons as LSU's head coach.
