Local colleges: Tyrik Tucker leads Old Westbury to ECAC Metro final

Tyrik Tucker had 15 points, seven rebounds and four steals as second-seeded SUNY-Old Westbury topped New Jersey City College, 65-52, in an ECAC Metro Tournament men's basketball semifinal Saturday.

Old Westbury improved to 24-4, a program record for wins, besting the previous mark of 23 set by the 1985-86 team.

Rashawn McCarthy chipped in 16 points for Old Westbury, which will play at top-seeded Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in the final Sunday at 2 p.m. Queens College 81, St. Thomas Aquinas 63:Patrick Parker had 24 points to lead Queens College (11-15, 11-7) in East Coast Conference action.


Adelphi 80, American International College 77:Junior guard Sade Jackson had 21 points, including a layup with four seconds left in regulation to force overtime for Adelphi (15-2) in a Northeast-10 Tournament first-round game Friday night. Adelphi (15-12) takes on top-ranked Bentley in a quarterfinal at 3 p.m. Sunday in Waltham, Mass.Queens College 65, St. Thomas Aquinas 58:Bria Jackson had 27 points to lift Queens College (11-14, 8-10 ECC).


St. John's 12, Siena 11: Colin Keegan had a career-high five goals for St. John's (3-1), which overcame a four-goal deficit with 8:34 left in the third quarter. Kevin Cernuto had four goals and Kieran McArdle added a goal and two assists for the Red Storm.

Adelphi 8, LIU Post 7:Salvatore Tuttle scored the game-winner with 10:52 remaining for No. 7 Adelphi (1-0) and Kevin Kennedy added two goals and an assist. Matty Beccaris had four goals for No. 9 Post.

Nassau CC 8, Navy Prep 6: James O'Boyle had three goals to lead Nassau CC (1-1). Sean Hinchy added two goals and an assist and Luke Haggerty made 16 saves for Nassau CC. Suffolk CC 11, Howard 9:Kenny Meinsen and Connor Boesh each scored three times for Suffolk CC. Josh Shaw added two goals and four assists and Pat Bonacum finished with 23 saves for Suffolk (2-0).


Adelphi 19, American International 2:Midfielder Alexa Froccaro and attacker Sara Sangiorgio each had four goals for fifth-ranked Adelphi (3-0). Roger Williams 21, SUNY-Old Westbury 2:Courtney Gallagher scored both goals for Old Westbury in the program's first-ever game.


SUNY-Old Westbury 3, Baruch 2: John Angelino had a two-run double in the top of the ninth to give Old Westbury (3-2) a 3-2 lead. Stephen Chapter struck out two in two-thirds of an inning for the win and Alex DiSanto retired the side in the ninth for the save.


SUNY-Old Westbury 2, Peace 1:Jennifer Jean's two-run triple in the bottom of the eighth inning gave SUNY-Old Westbury (1-0) the win. Alyssa Clancy pitched a complete game with six strikeouts.
