Adelphi splits

Justin Ciamillo went 3-for-3 with a run scored and Chris Wedlein had a hit, an RBI and a run as Adelphi beat Franklin Pierce, 2-1, in the first game of a non-conference baseball doubleheader, Sunday.

Mike Scudero struck out six for the win and Keith Cluch had the save for Adelphi, which dropped Game 2, 9-1. Ciamillo was 2-for-3 and Nick Pomo-Roman 2-for-3 for Adelphi (4-2). Franklin Pierce is 4-1.

Dowling splits. Daniel Tembroke had a walk-off single and Buddy Cipoletti was the winning pitcher as Dowling (2-2) topped Southern New Hampshire, 2-1. Dowling starting pitcher Nicolas Albero was the hard-luck loser in the nightcap, 3-2. Albero threw seven shutout innings, struck out eight and allowed no runs in the loss.

Cortland State 16, Farmingdale State 5: Nick Wiwczar had two hits and two runs scored for Farmingdale State (4-10) in non-conference.

Briarcliffe sweeps.Sam Braverman hit a two-run homer and Dave Darcy went 2-for-3 as Briarcliffe took Game 1 over Lyndon State, 6-1. In Game 2, Anthony Mele went 3-for-3 and Sam Braverman hit another two-run homer for Briarcliffe (3-4 USCAA) in a 9-4 win.


Plattsburgh 22, Farmingdale State 15:Sean Maxwell had three goals and three assists, and Pete Siemsen two goals and five assists for Farmingdale State (1-1).

Suffolk CC-Brentwood 11, Howard 5:Jason Smith led Suffolk CC-Brentwood in its season opener with three goals and one assist. Brendon Hayze and Douglas Quedmeau each had two goals.


Suffolk CC-Selden sweeps. Christina Seppi went 3-for-3 in a season-opening 15-4 win against NYU. Suffolk CC-Selden won the other game, 11-3, as Jade Gedrie was the winning pitcher. Megan Morci was 2-for-3 with a triple and home run for Selden.
