LSU, Alabama, Arkansas on top in polls

A wild weekend of upsets among top 10 teams has both the AP and USA Today polls dominated by the SEC.

LSU remains No. 1, Alabama moves up to No. 2 and Arkansas is now No. 3. According to the Associated Press, it's only the second time that one conference has had the top three teams in its poll.

The last time three teams from one conference occupied the top three spots in the AP poll was way back in 1971 with Nebraska at No. 1, followed by Oklahoma and Colorado.

The USA Today top 25 also has LSU, Alabama and Arkansas in the top three spots.

In fact, LSU, Alabama and Arkansas are all from the same division (West) within the SEC.

Stanford is No. 4 in the AP poll, but Virginia Tech is No. 4 in the USA Today top 25.

As far as the four top 10 teams to get upset over the weekend, Oklahoma State, which was stunned at Iowa State on Friday night, didn't fall too far. The Cowboys were No. 2 heading into Friday night. Oklahoma State is now No. 5 in the AP poll and No. 6 in the USA Today poll.

Clemson, which looked awful and got blown out at North Carolina State on Saturday, is No. 18 in the AP poll and No. 17 in the USA Today poll.

Oklahoma was stunned when Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III threw a last-second touchdown pass to beat the Sooners on Saturday night. Oklahoma is No. 12 in the AP poll and No. 11 in the USA Today poll.

Oregon, which worked its way back into the national title race after losing its opener to LSU, had its rally fall short at home to USC on Saturday night. The Ducks are No. 9 in both polls.
