McManmon's five three-pointers lift St. John's

Senior forward Kelly McManmon tied a career-high for three-pointers in a game with five and finished with 15 points as St. John's cruised to a 79-47 win over Texas Arlington in the first round of the Holiday Festival at Carnesecca Arena yesterday.

St. John's (10-1) will face Virginia Tech, a 68-66 winner in overtime over UAB, in the final today at 2 p.m.

McManmon, who has 168 career three-pointers, is five away from tying the school record.

Da'Shena Stevens and Shenneika Smith each had 14 points and former North Babylon standout Eugeneia McPherson added 11 points.

Joy McCorvey added eight points and 11 rebounds and Centhya Hart finished with nine rebounds.

Meghan Nelson led Texas Arlington (4-6) with 18 points.


Central Missouri 102, C.W. Post 81:Freshman Jonathan Kohler had a career-high 20 points and was one of five C.W. Post players to score in double figures at the High Desert Classic in Las Vegas. Aaron Hall added 17 points, Nemanja Jokic had 15 points, Roberto Macklin added 11 and James Tchana finished with 10 points. Sanijay Watts finished with 33 points for Central Missouri. Post drops to 3-4.
