Melissa Medina went 2-for-2 and broke the school's all-time hits record with 269 as C.W. Post topped Bridgeport, 9-0, in the first game of an ECC softball doubleheader. The previous record of 267 was set by Kelly Geiger in 1996. Shannon Koulnis hit a solo home run for Post in the second inning.
Post (27-7, 13-1) won Game 2, 13-4, in five innings. Christie Softy went 4-for-4 with a two-run home run in the second. Bridgeport is 1-30 and falls to 1-12. Hofstra 8, Marist 0:Michele DePasquale had two hits, including a homer and four RBIs for Hofstra (28-6) in non-conference. Erin Wade struck out six in a three-hitter for the Pride, which won its 10th straight. Marist is 4-19.
Suffolk CC-Selden 4, Westchester CC 0: Jade Gedrie struck out 10 in a one-hitter for Suffolk (20-2, 11-0 Region XV), which has won 18 of its last 19. Christina Seppi had a two-run double to give Suffolk a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth. Gedrie improved to 9-0.
NYIT 9, LIU 6:Jerry Smith went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs for NYIT (11-12) in non-conference. Chris Kievit hit a grand slam for LIU (8-21).
