Newly-hired Hofstra coach Joe Mihalich continued shaping the Pride program with three new additions to the roster. Mihalich announced the signing of guards Juan’ya Green, Ameen Tanksley and Jamall Robinson on Friday.

Green and Tanksley are Niagara transfers with two years of eligibility remaining. Both will have to sit out next season per NCAA transfer rules. Robinson, a 6-5 guard who attends Paul VI High School in Fairfax, Va., will be eligible in the fall.

Robinson averaged eight points per game for Paul VI in 2012-2013 as the school posted a 23-8 record.

Green brings some much needed experience to Hofstra’s roster and  was Niagara’s second leading scorer (16.5) last year. The versatile guard also averaged 4 rebounds and 4.9 assists. He started all 33 games and helped lead Niagara to the NIT and was the MAAC rookie of the year in 2011-2012.

Tanksley, a 6-6 guard/forward, averaged 11.3 points and 6 rebounds per game for Niagara. Tanksley played in every game last season and hit 44 three-pointers.

Green, Tanksley and Robinson join previous commitments Chris Jenkins and Eliel Gonzalez.

Said Mihalich: “This is a very exciting day for the Hofstra Basketball program. The addition of Juan’ya, Ameen and Jamall to our team gives us three additional outstanding student-athletes to showcase to the Hofstra community. These three, along with Chris, Eliel and our current returning players will allow our program to grow into the winning product we know it can be. I look forward to continuing recruiting efforts that will help Hofstra return to the NCAA Tournament.”

It's a bold step for Mihalich, who must do a complete overhaul of the roster as nine players from this season's team will not return.
