No. 18 Wisconsin upsets No. 1 Ohio State

Does anybody want the No. 1 ranking?

A week after Alabama went to South Carolina and lost the No. 1 ranking, Ohio State did the same on Saturday night. The Buckeyes had the No. 1 ranking for less than a week after falling at No. 18 Wisconsin 31-18 on Saturday.

Wisconsin got out to a 21-0 lead in the first half. David Gilreath returned the opening kick 97 yards for a touchdown. The Badgers dominated the first half, enjoying a 21-3 lead at halftime.

Ohio State dominated the third quarter and pulled to within 21-18 early in the fourth. But Wisconsin put a huge 10-play, 73-yard drive together and freshman James White scored from 12 yards out with 6:57 to go to make it 28-18.

John Clay rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries. White added 75 yards on 17 carries.

Dan Herron had 91 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries for Ohio State. Terrelle Pryor was 14 for 28 for 156 yards and an interception. He also rushed for 56 yards on 18 carries.

Oregon -- or Boise State -- will likely be the new No. 1 when the rankings come out on Sunday. The first BCS rankings of the season come out Sunday night and it's believed that Boise State will be No. 1.

With Ohio State and Alabama both losing, Boise State is in prime position to make it to the BCS national title game. The Broncos have one tough game remaining against Nevada. The Ohio State loss also helps TCU, which could move up to No. 3 in the rankings. TCU and Oregon still have some tough games remaining. No. 5 Oklahoma also benefits, but the Sooners have to go to unbeaten Missouri next Saturday night.

In terms of the Big Ten, Michigan State is the only unbeaten team overall. The Spartans are 7-0 for the first time since 1966. Michigan State is 3-0 in the Big Ten, while Iowa and Purdue are both 2-0. But let's focus on Iowa. The Hawkeyes play Wisconsin, Michigan State and Ohio State all at home. In my opinion, Iowa is in the driver's seat to win the conference title.
