Oklahoma No. 1 in both polls

Oklahoma held its position as the top team in the country in the AP poll, with LSU jumping from fourth to second. Alabama dropped from second to third, while Boise State jumped up one spot to fourth and received two first place votes. Notre Dame, Georgia, USC and Auburn dropped out of the poll, while Texas, Baylor, Penn State, South Florida enters for the first week. TCU dropped from 14th to 25th.

Oklahoma also stayed at the top in the coaches poll, receiving 43 first-place votes. Boise State moved up two spots to fifth, while Alabama stayed at No.2. LSU moved up one place to third and Oregon tumbled from third to 14th. Arizona State and West Virginia entered the poll for the first time coming in at 23 and 24, respectively. Notre Dame and Georgia dropped out.
