Oregon jumps Boise State in the polls

The AP and USA Today polls are out. The biggest news is that Oregon has jumped Boise State and is now No. 3.

Oregon, fresh off a 52-31 win over Stanford, is only 22 points behind No. 2 Ohio State in the AP poll and 77 points behind the Buckeyes in the USA Today poll.

Boise State is still getting a first-place vote in the AP poll. But slipping to No. 4 is possibly very bad because the Broncos have only one game remaining against a current top 25 team -- Nevada No. 21 in the AP poll).

Alabama's 31-6 win over Florida has the Crimson Tide firmly at No. 1. Alabama has 58 of the 60 first-place votes in the AP poll 57 of 58 first-place votes in the USA Today poll.

Florida fell seven spots to No. 14 in the AP poll and five spots to No. 12 in the USA Today poll.

Oklahoma's 28-20 win over Texas has the Sooners up two spots to No. 6 in the AP poll and one spot to No. 7 in the USA Today poll. Meanwhille, Texas is completely out of the polls. So are USC (only in the AP poll) and Penn State.

Michigan State, a 34-24 winner over Wisconsin, is up seven spots to No. 17 in the AP poll and five spots to No. 16 in the USA Today poll. Wisconsin drops nine spots to No. 20 in the AP poll and 10 spots to No. 19 in the USA Today poll.

Four new teams are in the AP poll: No. 22 Oklahoma State, No. 23 Florida State, No. 24 Missouri and No. 25 Air Force. The USA Today poll are two new teams: No. 24 Florida State and No. 25 Northwestern.
