Rouse leads Stony Brook past UMBC

Marcus Rouse had 17 points and Danny Carter scored all 10 of his points in the second half as the Stony Brook men's basketball team began America East Conference play by beating UMBC, 64-56, Sunday in Catonsville, Md.

After UMBC cut the Seawolves' 13-point halftime lead to 51-50, Carter's three-pointer and Dallis Joyner's hook shot made it 56-50. Stony Brook then went 8-for-8 from the free-throw line.

Preye Preboye had nine points and six rebounds for SBU (6-6). Bryan Dougher had eight points and six rebounds. Chris De La Rosa led UMBC (1-13) with 16 points and eight assists.
