Freshman Allison Cukrov tied the Stony Brook single-season record for most softball wins, with 24, by earning the decisions in both games of the Seawolves' sweep of visiting Albany in an America East doubleheader.
Cukrov, who tied Alyssa Struzenberg's 2008 mark, struck out nine and allowed seven hits as Stony Brook took the games, 5-2, and 3-1. Alyssa Hawley had a two-run single for the Seawolves (35-14-1, 14-2-1) in Game 1, while Jessica Combs, Lauren Kamachi and Nicole Schieferstein each had RBIs in Game 1.
Hofstra 3, UNC Wilmington 0: Erin Wade tossed a two-hitter and Tori Rocha and Courtney Crews had a hit and an RBI as Hofstra (35-13, 19-0 CAA) completed its first unbeaten conference season since 1997.
BASEBALLHofstra 10, Northeastern 2: John Tiedemann struck out five in eight innings as Hofstra (27-18, 15-8 CAA) tied the school record for most victories in a season. Danny Poma went 4-for-5 and set the school record for most hits in a season with 83, and Jared Hammer hit his fourth homer.
MENS LACROSSENassau CC 19, Brookdale CC 7:John Brandofino and James O'Boyle each had three goals and Zach Goldbach had a goal and three assists as Nassau CC (13-3) won the district championship. Nassau will play in the NJCAA Final Four on Saturday at the Mitchel Athletic Complex.
