Sileo leads LIU Post to upset of Adelphi

Jackie Sileo scored twice in overtime, including the go-ahead goal with 1:09 left, as LIU Post beat top-ranked Adelphi, 13-11, in women's lacrosse Saturday.

Katie Rotan's goal with 37 seconds left in overtime gave fifth-ranked Post a 13-9 lead. Marissa Mills (three goals) had tied it at 9 for Adelphi (14-2) with 6:14 left in regulation.

Sileo had five assists, Ashley Olen scored four goals, and Dominique Mosca made 13 saves for Post (13-2).

MEN'S LACROSSE

Adelphi 17, Bentley 4: Joe Vitale had six goals for Adelphi (12-2, 8-2 NE-10).

SOFTBALL

Hofstra sweeps. Courtney Crews and Tessa Ziemba each had three RBIs as Hofstra beat Towson, 10-0, in the second game of a doubleheader. Olivia Galati pitched four hitless innings for the win. Erin Trippi's three-run homer sparked the Pride's 4-1 victory in Game 1. Galati allowed four hits and struck out 13 for Hofstra (30-13, 14-0 CAA).

Stony Brook splits. Suzanne Karath and Alyssa Hawley scored on a fielding error in the third as Stony Brook beat Binghamton, 2-1, in Game 2 of a doubleheader. Allison Cukrov pitched a two-hitter for Stony Brook (32-13, 7-10 AE), which clinched a playoff berth. The Seawolves lost the first game, 3-0.

BASEBALL

Stony Brook 5, UMBC 0: Tyler Johnson gave up four hits in seven innings to lead Stony Brook (32-10,10-2 AE). Travis Jankowski went 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI.

Old Westbury 15, St. Joseph's (LI) 4: Paul Valerio went 4-for-5 with three RBIs to lead No. 2 Old Westbury (28-10) over No. 3 St. Joseph's in the Skyline semifinals. Old Westbury plays at No. 1 Farmingdale State at 11 a.m. today.

MEN'S TENNIS

Farmingdale State wins Skyline title. Joseph Falcetta and Jimmy Lopez won, 8-3, in the clinching third doubles as the No. 2 Rams beat No. 4 Purchase, 5-0, to capture the Skyline title. The Rams earned an automatic bid to the Div. III tournament and will compete on May 7.
