South Carolina wins SEC East title

Steve Spurrier returned to The Swamp on Saturday night and his South Carolina Gamecocks came away with a 36-14 win over Florida to clinch the SEC East title and a spot in the conference title game in Atlanta next month against Auburn.

South Carolina earned a spot in the SEC title game for the first time. The Gamecocks also won for the first time in Gainesville, improving to 1-12.

True freshman running back Marcus Lattimore rushed for a career-high 212 yards and three touchdowns on 40 carries. Quarterback Stephen Garcia also played well, running for a touchdown and not committing a turnover.

Florida's offense struggled, getting just 226 total yards, including 35 yards rushing. The Gators had the ball for only 19 minutes.
