St. John’s signed power forward Sedee Keita, a South Carolina transfer, on Tuesday, the school announced.
The 6-9 Philadelphia native has three years of eligibility remaining but will need to sit out one season, per NCAA transfer rules.
“We are excited to welcome Sedee to our basketball family,” St. John’s head coach Chris Mullin said. “Sedee is a very athletic big man with a wide frame who comes with high-major experience.”
Keita averaged 9.6 minutes per game over 29 games for the Gamecocks last season during their Final Four run. He averaged 1.1 points and two rebounds and finished fourth on the team with 11 blocks.
The rising sophomore is the latest addition for the Red Storm. St. John’s recently signed former AAU teammate and fellow transfer Mickey Dixon and New York City prospect Sidney Wilson.
