Stevens, Smith lift St. John's women

Da'Shena Stevens had her first double double (10 points, 10 rebounds) of the season and Shenneika Smith had 11 points as visiting St. John's beat Cincinnati, 51-34, in a Big East women's game Saturday.

Eugeneia McPherson scored 10 points with four rebounds for the Red Storm (13-7, 5-2 Big East).

LIU Brooklyn 69, Mount St. Mary's 45:Ashley Palmer had 20 points and eight rebounds as LIU Brooklyn (14-5, 3-4 NEC) went on a 32-0 run and overcame a 13-point deficit in an NEC game. Maine 57, Stony Brook 44:Taylor Burner had 11 points and Whitney Davis chipped in with 10 for Stony Brook (4-16, 1-6 America East). Samantha Baranowski and Corinne Wellington had 12 points each for Maine.Dowling 67, Queens 43:Connie Simmons scored 16 points and Julia Koppl had 13 points to lead Dowling (14-3, 7-0 ECC).

Farmingdale State 63, Purchase 40: Baytania Newman had 15 points for Farmingdale State (8-6, 7-0 Skyline).

District of Columbia 75, LIU Post 72: Ashley Caggiano had 18 points and Felicia Joyner had 15 points for LIU Post (13-6, 5-3 ECC).

MEN'S BASKETBALLDowling 60, Queens 51: John Merchant had 16 points and five rebounds to lead Dowling (2-4) in East Coast Conference play. Justin Alexander scored 14 points with four rebounds for Dowling.NYIT 79, Bridgeport 75 (OT): Dominic Scurry had 21 points and 11 rebounds and David Naves 16 points for NYIT (6-10, 3-4) in ECC.

LIU Post 92, District of Columbia 85: Stefan Bonneau had 32 points and Vaughn Allen added 23 for LIU Post (13-4, 7-0 ECC).

Farmingdale State 61, Purchase 58: Josh Smith (27 points) hit two free throws with 4.3 seconds left to give Farmingdale State a 59-58 lead. A.J. Matthews had 19 points, 14 rebounds and seven blocks for the Rams (12-4, 8-1 Skyline).
