For the second straight season Stony Brook was picked to finish second the Big South Conference’s annual preseason media and coach's football poll.

The Seawolves, the 2010 Big South co-champion with Liberty and Coastal Carolina, returns 19 starters, including running backs Miguel Maysonet and Brock Jackolski, who both gained over 1,000 yards rushing. Stony Brook went 5-1 in league play last season, clinching a share of the conference title for the second straight season.

Liberty was picked as the favorite in the Big South, receiving 15 of 18 first-place votes. Stony Brook received two first-place votes. Coastal Carolina was picked to finish third. The Chanticleers won the Big South’s automatic bid to the FCS (Football Championship Subdivision) playoffs.

The Seawolves received national recognition earlier this week and was ranked No.15 in Phil Steele's College Football Review magazine.

Individually, Maysonet, Jackolski, wide receiver Matt Brevi, defensive lineman Ryan Haber and linebacker Craig Richardson were named to the Big South's pre-season all-conference squad.
