Albany has been a nemesis for Stony Brook in a number of sports, and that continued in Saturday's America East men's lacrosse championship game as No. 17 Stony Brook fell to the No. 7 Great Danes, 22-9, in Albany.

Challen Rogers had three goals for the second straight game for SBU (13-5), which pulled within 8-5 but was outscored 14-4 the rest of the way. Brody Eastwood's goal gave him a school-record 62 this season, and Mike Rooney had a goal and three assists. Said Rogers, "We got away from the fundamentals that got us to this point like shooting low and just overall taking quality shots.''

Lyle Thompson had five goals for Albany (15-2). Connor Fields (four assists) and Seth Oakes each had four.

"I'm disappointed in the result today, but not in the effort from our team,'' SBU coach Jim Nagle said. "I'm very proud of my team's accomplishments this year. We took a big step getting back to the championship game. We're going to continue to build from this and get better.''

Rooney wrapped up an outstanding career and finished with 253 points, including 132 goals. His 63 assists and 111 points this season rank 12th and fifth, respectively, in a season in Division I history.
