Stony Brook University will compete in a postseason tournament for the sixth straight season. The Seawolves will play at University of Illinois-Chicago on Wednesday in the 16-team College Basketball Invitational.

Stony Brook (18-13) appeared in the CBI in 2014, losing to Siena, 66-55. It also lost to Mercer, 72-70, in 2015. UIC is 15-18.

Stony Brook made its first appearance in the NCAA Division I Tournament last season, losing to Kentucky in a first-round game.

“We are very excited to be participating in the CBI this year,” coach Jeff Boals said in a statement. “This is a great opportunity for our team to gain postseason experience.”

The Seawolves finished a surprising second in the America East Conference this season.
