Texas Tech announced today that Mike Leach was terminated with cause as the school's head football coach.
On Monday, Texas Tech had suspended Leach from coaching in Saturday's Alamo Bowl. Leach had filed a temporary restraining order to allow him to coach the bowl game. But, according to the school's press release, Leach's attorney refused to participate in a legal proceeding today, and the school said "the termination of Coach Leach was inevitable."
The school also said: "In a defiant act of insubordination, Coach Leach continually refused to cooperate in a meaningful way to help resolve the complaint."
According to this story from ESPN.com, Leach was being investigated for his treatment of sophomore wide receiver Adam James, who is the son of ESPN college football analyst Craig James. Adam James was being treated for a mild concussion and alleges that Leach confined him to small, dark spaces while the Red Raiders practiced.
