The Nationals outfielder that got all the buzz and hype in the spring was Mike Morse. He has struggled and Laynce Nix continues to hit keeping Morse on the bench. Nix started again in leftfield today and hit cleanup going 2-for-4 with a strikeout and his second stolen base.
Nix is batting .312 with 12 runs, five doubles, five home runs, and 15 RBIs. The problem is a 25/1 K/BB ratio and a .383 BABIP. This streak won't last, but Nix does have power. If Roger Bernadina continues to hit, Nix will have to vie with Morse and Rick Ankiel for playing time when Ankiel returns from the DL.
For now, ride the hot streak of Nix. He has hit safely in 10 of his last 12 starts.
