Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall was stabbed in the stomach early this morning during a dispute with his wife at the couple's home in South Florida.
Michi Marshall was arrested by Broward County police on one charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to and was being held on $7,500 bail, according to the Broward County Sheriff's Office, per Andrew Carter of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. The couple married in June, 2010.
Brandon Marshall's agent, Kennard McGuire, said in a statement released this morning, that Marshall is expected to make a full recovery.
"This is a very difficult time for Brandon and his family, thankfully he will make a full recovery," McGuire said. "We simply ask that his privacy is respected."
Marshall's close friend and former college teammate, Jaguars receiver Mike Sims Walker, tweeted this morning that "Brandon will be ok and is in good spirits.
According to Fox News, Marshall initially told doctors that his wife threw a lamp or vase at him, and that part of it impaled him. But upon inspection of the wound, it was determined that he'd been stabbed by a knife.
The Dolphins traded for Marshall last year in a deal with the Denver Broncos. The Jets had been interested in acquiring Marshall during the 2009 season, but instead dealt for Braylon Edwards of the Browns after Denver's asking price was too high.
UPDATES: Marshall has been released from the hospital, and his wife is out of jail on $7,500 bail.
Also, the Dolphins have no plans to part ways with Marshall over this incident, per Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.
