The Bengals' run of good luck regarding preseason injuries has ended.
Running back Brian Leonard (pictured, right) suffered a foot injury against the Cowboys in Sunday's Hall of Fame game. According to Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Inquirer, Leonard could be out anywhere from the rest of the preseason to the entire season.
Leonard was a solid performer last year in third- and fourth-down situation, and also served as a blocking back. He is listed as both a running back and fullback.
"I'm very concerned," quarterback Carson Palmer said of Leonard's injury. "He's a big-time player for us, and we have a lot of things built in specifically for him. So the quicker he gets back, the better."
With Leonard's injury and additional injuries to fullback Cedric Peerman (hamstring), Fui Vakapuna (shoulder) and Cordera Eason, the Bengals now have Cedric Benson and Bernard Scott as the only healthy tailbacks and Joe Tronzo as the only healthy fullback.
Fortunately for Cincinnati, Benson rushed for 1,362 yards and six touchdowns himself last year.
