CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers are out of the running for the Super Bowl, but they're No. 1 in the heart of an Oklahoma boy.

Media outlets report 12-year-old Cade Pope wrote all 32 NFL teams asking them why he should root for their team. He had once been a St. Louis Rams fan because of quarterback Sam Bradford, who played college ball at the University of Oklahoma. But his affection was up for grabs.

Out of the 32 letters, Cade got one response. Carolina Panthers founder and owner Jerry Richardson sent a handwritten note as well as a replica Panthers helmet signed by All-Pro linebacker Luke Kuechly.

Richardson told Cade the team would make him proud and that he would love Kuechly, Cam Newton, Thomas Davis and Greg Olsen.
