Chad Johnson's relationship with the Miami Dolphins didn't last much longer than his marraige.
After signing with the team June 11, Johnson was cut by head coach Joe Philbin in a riveting episode of HBO's Hard Knocks, which aired Tuesday.
"I don't know that this is working for the benefit of you, me, the Miami Dolphins or anybody else," Philbin said.
The usually boisterous Johnson had little to say in response besides, "Thank you for the opportunity."
Philbin made it clear that the domestic violence incident wasn't the only reason for Johnson's release. The 34-year-old veteran receiver dropped the lone pass thrown his way in the Dolphins preseason opener, and Philbin said he wasn't on par with the team's program.
Johnson was arrested Saturday after his reality star wife Evelyn Lozada accused him of head-butting her during an argument in a car outside their home. He was charged with domestic battery, a misdemeanor, and released from jail Sunday after posting a $2,500 bond.
According to reports, Lozada filed for divorce on Tuesday. The couple was married for 41 days.
