Antrel Rolle is on the field for just about every defensive snap for the Giants. But when the Giants have the ball, it turns out that the veteran safety is just like the rest of us.
"Honestly, I just sit back and watch the Odell Show because it's fun to watch," he said of rookie teammate Odell Beckham Jr.'s exploits during Rolle's weekly radio appearance on WFAN.
Rolle has been a big Beckham booster since early in the season. He even told the rookie when he made his debut after missing four games that Beckham still owed him 1,000 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. After 10 games, Beckham is 28 yards and one touchdown away from those lofty goals.
"He's taking advantage of his opportunities," Rolle said.
Injured reserve now at 22
Jacquian Williams and James Brewer were placed on season-ending injured reserve with concussions on Tuesday, the latest Giants to join the growing list. The Giants now have 22 players on injured reserve.
Punter Steve Weatherford is the Giants' nominee for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, which honors players for their community and charity work. All 32 teams nominate a player and three finalists will be selected next month. The winner will be announced in Glendale, Arizona, the site of Super Bowl XLIX, during the Fourth Annual NFL Honors awards show on Jan. 31.
The Giants are the first team to have seven or more sacks in three straight games since the 1989 Vikings had eight in three straight. Minnesota's streak ended when it had five sacks in a loss to the Giants in a Monday night game . . . Eli Manning's three touchdown passes on Sunday increased his career total to 255, moving him past Hall of Famer Dan Fouts (254) and into a tie with Sonny Jurgensen for 13th on the NFL's career list.
