Ben McAdoo could have flown into Eagles’ nest

Ben McAdoo is getting the Giants ready to face the Eagles this week. A few fateful decisions could have had him doing just the opposite.

Before the Giants hired McAdoo as their coach he interviewed with the Eagles for their coaching vacancy. In fact it’s widely believed that the Eagles’ interest in a second interview with him was the final spur to the Giants making an offer to McAdoo.

“It was good to go through the process,” McAdoo said. “I went through a few of them [interviews]. It was beneficial to go through it, learn through it. I think they have good people down there in Philadelphia. It worked out the way it worked out.”

McAdoo was already a Giant when he went to Philadelphia for his interview, serving two seasons as offensive coordinator. His interview did not take place at Eagles headquarters, he said, but he still insisted that “it wasn’t weird.”

He also insists that he is not thinking about what might have been.

“We’re focused on preparation,” he said.
