Guess who was in the Giants' locker room today?
Time's up. Chase Blackburn.
The former Giant is here to try to become the newest Giant. He'll be having a workout this afternoon around 4:15 as the team attempts to find a replacement for Jonathan Goff, if not in time for Sunday then at the very least on their roster.
"I feel great," Blackburn said. "Ready to get back to work, I know that."
Blackburn was a backup linebacker throughout his career with the Giants and a special teams captain last year. He started 17 games in his career, some at middle linebacker in place of injured Antonio Pierce but mostly on the outside.
If the Giants do agree to sign Blackburn, it won't be official until tomorrow because his workout is after the deadline for filing league paperwork. The Giants also have Kawika Mitchell in for a look.
Asked earlier today how long it would take someone new to get ready to play, Tom Coughlin said: "It depends on the individual and their recall." Blackburn would certainly have the best recall of any candidate for the job.
