The Giants issued their pre-practice injury report and it has two names on it that we weren’t expecting:
Michael Boley and Brandon Jacobs will both be on the official injury report later today with knee issues. We’ll get Tom Coughlin in a bit to clarify what’s going on with them and the severity of their injuries. Neither appeared to be having any tremendous difficulties after the game on Sunday.
The rest of the list includes issues that have been around for a while – Prince Amukamara (foot), Justin Tuck (groin/neck), Osi Umenyiora (knee) – and some injuries that we knew about from the game on Sunday – David Baas (neck) and Rocky Bernard (ribs).
The big injury to watch this week is Baas’ neck. He aggravated a burner on Sunday and is apparently having discomfort in his neck and some sensation issues in his arm. For a guy who has to snap the football and then run into a wall on each play, both of those symptoms can be a problem.
The Giants promoted Jim Cordle from the practice squad to be the backup center behind Kevin Boothe if Baas is unavailable for Sunday.
They also added cornerback Justin Tryon. To make room they terminated the contract of WR Brandon Stokley with an injury settlement (quad) and cut CB Brian Williams who was brought in to add depth after Terrell Thomas was lost for the season.
