I don’t know how “official” this is, but in a series of bizarre tweets, the Giants have apparently announced a contract extension for Tom Coughlin. Not that we should be surprised. John Mara said he would get one at the end of the season, and every time I asked about it I was told Mara would address the situation once the lockout was settled.

UPDATE: Giants say it's official and is thru 2012 season.

The tweets include the following posts (and the Eisen named in them is Mike Eisen, a writer for Giants.com):

eisen: Coughlin on contract extension: As I was when I was hired in 2004, I am grateful for the opportunity.

eisen: TC: "To be the head coach of the ... Giants is the fulfillment of a dream for somebody who grew up where I grew up. #nyg #giants

eisen: TC: "I am thankful to work for ... the Maras and the Tisches and Jerry Reese and his staff, my coach(es) and players.” #nyg #giants

eisen: John Mara: "As we said after the season, we strongly believe in Tom. We believe in the job he has done." #nyg #giants

Hopefully we’ll get more in terms of details and sentence structure soon.
