You could almost hear Tom Coughlin shaking his head during the conference call.

"Don't ask me how this was provoked," the coach said of Brandon Jacobs' injured neck. "It's the first time we've ever seen this."

It almost sounds like Coughlin isn't buying the story he was told about how Jacobs hurt himself. On Saturday night after the game he said: "The original word that I got is he hurt himself doing shrugs in the weightroom."

Skeptical? Maybe. But Coughlin reiterated that he is not concerned about the extent of the injury. He said that Jacobs should be ready to go when the team takes the field on Monday.

“He felt a little bit better today,” Coughlin said. “He had some issues in terms of flexibility and movement in the neck in terms of the muscle contractions, but I think that the expectation is that he’ll be able to practice.”

And that MRI he had?

"According to the MRI, it was nothing of a structural nature. It was muscle."
