Coughlin on Boothe: "He's got to go"

The Giants have a hole on the offensive line at left guard, and it seems like Kevin Boothe, fresh off the PUP list, will try to plug it.

With Shaun O'Hara and David Diehl sidelined by injuries and Adam Koets on IR, the Giants will probably go with Rich Seubert at center and Shawn Andrews at left tackle with Boothe sandwiched between them.

Boothe has been on the PUP list since the start of camp after tearing a pectoral muscle in the spring and undergoing surgery to repair it. Now he's being thrown right from the PUP and into the fire.

"In about 15 minutes it'll be Boothe's time to go," Tom Coughlin said about 15 minutes before the team practiced today. "He's got to go."

That leaves the Giants with three backup offensive linemen, one of them unlikely to play. Mitch Petrus and Jamon Meredith will be available to the Giants. Will Beatty, who was doing individual drills today, is still recovering from surgery on his broken foot and is probably at least another week or so away.

Also of note from practice today: Brandon Jacobs was not on the field due to illness. What kind of illness? "You don't want to know," a PR honcho said. Sounds icky. D.J. Ware was taking second-team snaps behind Amhad Bradshaw as you would expect.
