It seems as if Victor Cruz has come from nowhere to everywhere. Three weeks ago he was the guy who couldn’t get the job done to the point that the team had to bring in Brandon Stokley. Then he caught two glamour-shot touchdowns against the Eagles and made a highlight-reel (almost blooper-reel) play against the Cardinals on the game-winning drive. Cruz is becoming, as I’ve said here, if not a star receiver then at the very least a celebrity receiver.
Kevin Gilbride isn’t buying into the meteoric rise of Victor Cruz, though.
“He’s getting better and improving a little bit each week,” the offensive coordinator said. “You guys go from somebody can’t do something to all of a sudden he’s a superstar. I see very slow, steady improvement, which is great. That’s what we’re hoping for.”
