Here are a couple of interesting statistical nuggets that the Giants dug up, both of which center around the game Victor Cruz had on Sunday.
First, the Giants history. Hakeem Nicks had 162 receiving yards against the Cardinals and Cruz followed that up with 161 against the Seahawks. According to the Giants, it is the first time in franchise history they had two different receivers with at least 160 yards each in consecutive games.
Cruz' numbers against the Seahawks were eight catches for 161 yards and a touchdown. On the other side of the ball, rookie Doug Baldwin had eight catches for 136 yards and a touchdown. Both of those players were undrafted and entered the league as free agents. Amazingly, according to Elias and the Giants, it’s the first time since the 1970 merger that two opposing undrafted receivers had stats that were at least as good as 8 receptions, 136 yards and a touchdown while playing in the same game.
